Take A Deep Breath

As we move into the autumnal equinox, we are given a time that is a gateway for focused reflection, intention, bounty and gratitude. Below are allies from the plant kingdom that can help to mark this transition:

Essential Oil for Autumnal Equinox:

Frakincense (Boswellia spp.) is a sacred oil that is in direct alignment with the harmonizing and reflective energy of this time. Traditionally Frankincense has been used in aromatherapy for respiratory conditions, stress- related ailments, and for it’s ability to work on dry and mature skin (think wrinkles).  Energetically this oil is used to spiritually uplift and connect  while also helping to root + ground us. This oil is one that enhances prayer + meditation helping to quiet the mind as we go inward to access our inner wisdom.

Meditation + Prayer Oil Recipe:

  • Add 9 drops Frankincense essential oil in 1/2 oz organic carrier oil (jojoba, sweet almond) and mix gently. Store in a dark glass bottle with airtight lid

  • Use a small drop or two on the third eye area (between eyebrows) and on the heart chakra area (middle breast bone). Inhale and enjoy

Herb for Autumnal Equinox:

Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora) is a nervine tonic meaning that if used over time it can be nourishing and calming. In herbalism it is thought to be deeply tonifying to the nervous system and is used for those that worry and ruminate, muscular spasticity, and helps exhausted people who are at their “wits end.” Energetically this herb is like a gentle comb, helping to take all of our emotional nerve endings that are sticking out every which way and gentle untangle them so that all is calm and in it’s place.

Frayed Emotions Tea Recipe:

  • Boil 16 oz of water and let sit for 10 minutes (still hot/not boiling)

  • Add 2 tsp skull cap and 1 tsp chamomile to your favorite mug, pour hot water over herb, and cover to allow herb to steep

  • Strain and enjoy
